It all started a few years back when we both moved into the same building in downtown Kansas City. I (Cory) also worked in the building selling condos. I would always tease Tricia for the hours she would spend by the pool. You could almost set your watch to when you would see Tricia come down to the lobby and go out by the pool. These small interactions went on for a bit, but nothing more than a friendly hello now and then.
Fast forward a few years, Tricia and I ran into each other at a Halloween party where we talked for a bit. She says I was flirting, which is true. However even then the time just wasn't right and it would take a little while longer before we really hit it off.
Thanks to Facebook Tricia sent me a message asking if her younger brother Tyler was behaving at The View. I had no idea she moved out! We ended up talking via Facebook for a bit before I finally asked her out. Of course my clueless self dragged my feet longer than needed, but she said yes!
It didn't take long before I knew she was the one for me! I knew pretty quick that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this amazing woman. We talked a little about the details but nothing was really set in stone, literally.
After telling my Mother that I wanted to spend my life with Tricia, my Mother offered the stone my Father gave her when he asked her to marry him. Since his passing she wore the stone in a necklace and always knew she wanted to pass it along. Lucky me!
So a little time passed and I had the ring in my pocket. I designed a little scavenger hunt that took us to different spots all over town that we spent time at as a couple. The last stop was in front of the house I grew up in at Loose Park.
